. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATED_
4 WELL INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING
i
After the soil boring program is complete, three monitoring wells will be
installed to locate the depth of the water table, the direction of ground
water flow and the quality of ground water beneath
approximate location of these wells is shown on Plate 8, he site. The
!I
The following procedures, as outlined by DOHS, shall be followed:
(1) While drilling, Kleinfelder will retain soil samples collected at
5 foot intervals and/or lithologic changes. Select samples will
be submitted for chemical analysis by EPA Method 8015
i
(modified) . The continuous core sections will be s reened by the
PID and FID to assess whether contamination is indicated.
(2) Sieve analysis will be performed on samples of aquifer material,
and the selection of filter packs and casing slots 4ill be based
on the results of gradation analyses.
(3) Four—inch diameter, 10 foot length stainless steel screens will
be installed, with 4—inch diameter PVC risers to the surface.
The cap at the bottom of each well shall be stainless steel.
(4) A 3 foot bentonite plug will be placed (using 1/4—in:h bentonite
pellets) above the filter pack, and sufficient w ter will be
added to ensure that proper swelling of the bentonite is
achieved.
(5) The tops of well casings will be tied to a local benchmark, and
water level data from each well will be used to estimate the
local ground water gradient.
38-87-33
12
