THE MARLEY COOLING TOWER COMPANY
5800 Foxridge Drive/P.O. Box 2912/Mission, Kansas 66201/Telephone: (913) 362-1818
July 8 , 1986
JUL 2 21986
Mr . Ron Vali" t' ° ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH
San Joaquin f ng -i v. PERMIT/SERVICES,
. Hazelton Ave . I J
Stockton , CA 95205
SUB : Make Up Water Permit for Wood Treating Plant .
Dear Mr . Dalinoti :
Purpose :
This letter is to request a permit to pump "?Make Up"
water from ground water under The Marley Cooling Tower
Company (MCTC) for use as make-up water in the wood treating
plant .
General Discussion :
MCTC has operated a wood treating plant on the seventeen
acre property described above since 1966 . The make-up water
for operation of the plant came from rainwater collected in
the storm water retention pond that was originally built in
conformance with San Joaquin County regulations . This surface
impoundment is now being closed in conformance with Calfornia
State Department of Health Service Closure requirements,
During the twenty years the MCTC operated the treating
facility , some pollution of the ground water occurred . MCTC
is now engaged in mitigation studies and activities to correct
the problem.
One proposed method of correction is to pump the water ,
containing soluble Chromium, to the surface and reuse it as
make-up water in the treating process .
MARLEY
n
A MARLEY COMPANY
