I believe it is a good basis for a community relations plan. The plan to review the document on a quarterly basis and revise it as necessary should result in a program which addresses all the concerns and issues of the community. ! I do have some comments and suggestions for revisions to the plan. My comments and suggestions are as follows: 1 . Page two, Storm Hater Retention Pond, the Plan mentions a "possibility" of closing the pond, it is my understanding the State has asked j repeatedly that the existing retention pond be drained and closed. I 2. Page three, first line, an acronym (NPDES) is used here with no explanation of what it stands for or what it means. i 3. Page three; 'third paragraph, the statement ''!"At this time, no" health leffects studies appear warranted" should. be deleted ;Since,"there is no documented e dence xhether h a health study "'should or should "not be o , " is better not to even mention such a study. In addition,this statement"could create- a public outcry ,for a 'health effects ,study before the need`is 'established -h -". •• 4. Page three, last paragraph, first sentence, the statement that "Community groups have not expressed much concern up to this point." is not established since, at least to my' knowledge, no interviews of residents from the area have been conducted. I know of at least one group, the Sierra Coalition Against Toxic Substances, which may be very concerned. j 5, Same page, same paragraph, last sentence, Mr. Patrick . Johnston, Assemblyman, Twenty-sixth District is mentioned as having expressed an interest in the problems at the site. What is his interest? Has he been interviewed? If not, how did his interest become known? These are questions which need to be answered. t ' 6. Page 5, first paragraph, again there is a reference to the "lack of _ community concernwhich should be deleted. In addition, I would like to know when initial interviews will be _conducted. Some target date for starting the interviews should be mentioned. I have some sample interview I questions if the Marley Company is interested. 7.
