5.2.5 Airborne Migration Controls
Airborne migration control categories involve waste containment in order
to minimize potential for airborne migration. Technologies that satisfy this
category include surface caps, topsoil covers, and revegetation.
5.2.6 Surface Water Controls
Surface water controls consist of measures that limit the amount of
rainwater accumulation and subsequent downward migration through the soil.
Surface caps, grading, and revegetation are the most likely forms of surface
water controls for this site.
5.2.7 Containment Removal
All remove and treat alternatives, as well as the removal and disposal
alternatives require removal of the contaminated soils from the ground. There
are a limited number of technologies that must be screened to remove the
contaminated soils for remedial alternatives that will be constructed.
5.3 1glentiftQgtion of Remedial Technologies
Appropriate technologies associated with each of the general response
categories discussed above are identified in Table 5-1. A description of each
technology is presented in Appendix D.
5.4 Rgsultg of Remedial Technology Scrgening
Results of the screening of technologies are presented in Table 5-2. This
Table identifies technologies that have been retained for incorporation into
remedial alternatives. The table also identifies those technologies that have
been determined to be infeasible or inappropriate, and have therefore been
eliminated from further consideration.
5-4
GGA/0186b
