Based on conversations with the San Joaquin County Department of Health,
it is Dames & Moore's understanding that a specified cleanup level for diesel
in soils has not been set, and that cleanup requirements will be determined
based on site-specific characteristics.
As discussed in Section 4 (Environmental and Health Assessment), a
remedial response criterion for total petroleum hydrocarbons in soil was
proposed to be 10,000 ppm. if an alternative meets or exceeds this standard,
no institutional controls are expected to be imposed. However, if the
alternative fails to meet this standard, controls such as restricted site use
may be implemented. Final candidate alternatives 3, 7 and 8 meet or exceed
the proposed remedial response criterion, while implementation of alternatives
1, 5 and 9 may require institutional controls.
7.4 Cost Ana. ysis
A summary of the estimated present worth costs for the six final candidate
remedial action alternatives is presented in Table 7-4. A more detailed
breakdown of the estimated costs for each alternative is presented in
Appendix G.
These costs are used to develop an order-of-magnitude ranking for
comparison of the various alternatives, and are not intended for budget
planning, bidding, or construction purposes.
7-4
GGA/0198b
