Hazelton Avenue <br /> Stockton, California 95205 <br /> TANK CUTTING OPERATION AT AMERICAN FOREST PRODUCTS <br /> This is in regard to Stockton Service Station Equipment Company ' s <br /> request to cut up an abandoned gasoline storage tank on the <br /> American Forest Products site at 1800 Marshal Avenue. <br /> The Fire Department does not anticipate extraordinary problems in <br /> granting this request provided: <br /> 1 . The tank is purged with carbon dioxide - 15 lbs . of dry ice <br /> for every 1000 gallons of tank capacity for thirty minutes <br /> or until flammable vapors are no longer escaping from the <br /> vent pipe ; <br /> 2 . The tank is removed to an area at least 25 feet from the <br /> nearest combustibles for the cutting operation ; <br /> 3 . The tank is further purged with high pressure air for a <br /> _ period of time consistent with good practice ; <br /> 4 . A dry chemical extinguisher of at least 20 1b . capacity <br /> rated for Class 2 fires shall be available in the immediate <br /> vicinity ; and <br /> 5 . Personnel not necessary to the cutting operation shall <br /> remain at least 50 feet from the tank. <br /> I will be available at 944-8271 to answer any questions you may <br /> have regarding the request. <br /> JOHN B .
