• <br /> 86 CLEANING OF RESPIRATORS <br /> Respirators assigned and worn by one individual must be dismantled and thoroughly <br /> cleaned and disinfected after each day's use Visitor's or multi-assigned respirators must <br /> be cleaned and disinfected after each use A disinfectant spray or wipe is approved as a <br /> disinfectant between uses during the day but not for cleaning and sanitizing after each <br /> day's use Care must be taken to prevent damage from rough handling during the <br /> cleaning procedure After cleaning, respirators must be reassembled <br /> Respirator Cleaning Procedure <br /> Washing Disassemble and wash with a mild liquid detergent in warm <br /> water (not to exceed 110°F) A stiff bristle (not wire) brush <br /> maybe used <br /> Rinsing Rinse in clean water (110°F maximum) to remove all traces of <br /> detergent This is very important to prevent dermatitis <br /> Disinfecting: Thoroughly rinse or immerse in a sanitizer provided by the <br /> manufacturer Alternatively, a weak chlorine bleach solution <br /> (1 milliliter liquid bleach/liter of water) may be used <br /> Final Rinsing Rinse thoroughly in clean water (110°F maximum) to remove <br /> all traces of disinfectant This is very important to prevent <br /> dermatitis <br /> Drying Drain and dry hanging by the straps from racks (take care to <br /> prevent damage), or towel drying with clean soft clothes or <br /> paper towels <br /> 87 MAINTENANCE OF RESPIRATORS <br /> Routine respirator maintenance such as replacing missing valves, gaskets, nosecups etc , <br /> must only be performed by Dairies & Moore trained respirator users or a respirator <br /> manufacturer's representative Only approved replacement parts must be used <br /> Substitution of parts from a different brand or type of respirator is generally not possible, <br /> invalidates the technical approval of the respirator, and is not permitted Any respirator <br /> suspected of being defective must be removed from service and replaced <br /> 88 STORAGE OF RESPIRATORS <br /> When not in use, respirators must be stored to protect them from dust, sunlight, heat, <br /> extreme cold, excessive moisture, damaging chemicals, and physical damage <br /> Respirators must be stored in sealable (e g Ziplock(D or twist-tie) reusable plastic bags <br /> between shifts <br /> AMFOREST 21 7 24 <br />
