A duplicate groundwater sample will be collected from one well during each sampling event
Duplicate samples will be analyzed for TPHD
3 1 Soil Sampling Procedures
A composite grab soil sample will be collected from the drill cuttings following the installation of the
groundwater monitoring wells The sample will be analyzed for TPHD to assess disposal allternative
3 2 Groundwater Sampling Procedures
Groundwater samples will be collected from the two proposed new monitoring wells after well
installation and on a quarterly schedule for three additional rounds Groundwater samples will be
collected in accordance with pertinent applicable sampling protocols, as discussed below
I3 2.1 Static Water Level Measurement
During groundwater elevation monitoring and before sampling, the static water level will be measured
at the five existing Dames & Moore wells and the two new wells using an electric water level indicator
Measurements will be made, recorded, and repeated until at least two consecutive depth readings are
within 0 01 feet Water level data will be recorded to the nearest 0 01 foot from a reference point
marked on the top of the PVC casing Before and after each use, the measurement device was
thoroughly rinsed with deionized water
3 2.2 Well Purging
Prior to sample collection, the monitoring wells will be purged with a portable submersible pump or
a disposable bailer Purging of the well will be performed in order to obtain samples representative
of groundwater in the formation Monitoring wells will be purged until
(1) a minimum of three casing volumes are removed from the well, and
(2) the field-measured temperature, pH, and specific conductivity stabilize
Casing volume is the volume of water that occupies the well casing from the bottom of the
well to the water table One casing volume (CV) will be calculated as
CV = (pi r'h) (7 48 gals/ft')
where
pi = 3 14,
r = the radius measured from the center of the well to the inside surface
of the well casing (feet), and
h = the height of the column of water in
the well from the bottom of the well to the water table (feet)
DAMES&MOORE 5
