CLOSURE REQUEST REPORT Section No 5 0 <br /> Former American Forest Products Company 07/31/01 <br /> 2801 West Lane Page 5-1 <br /> Stockton,California <br /> 50 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR CLOSURE <br /> This section presents responses to the request for information in addition to that presented in Tn-Regional <br /> Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites, <br /> Appendix B, Checklist (March 1994) <br /> 1. A listing of all tanks at the site, their sizes, contents, when they were removed and when and <br /> where they were disposed. <br /> Three USTs were located in the vicinity of the maintenance shop A 10,000-gallon UST and pump island <br /> were located on the western side of the building A 500-gallon UST, used for the storage of waste oil, <br /> was located on the eastern side of the maintenance shop According to plant personnel, a 325-gallon <br /> underground gasoline or diesel tank also existed on the northern side of the building but was evidently <br /> removed However, no records of the removal of the 325-gallon UST were kept The 10,000-gallon and <br /> 500-gallon USTs were removed on May 11, 1988 Tank removal was observed by a representative of the <br /> PHS-EHD Documentation regarding the final disposal site for the USTs is not available <br /> 2. A listing of all piping at the site, the quantity of piping in linear feet, when it was removed <br /> and when and where it was disposed. <br /> Approximately 80 linear feet of pipeline associated with the 10,000-gallon diesel tank was excavated and <br /> removed during the summer of 1991 In addition, approximately 150 cubic yards of soil in the area of the <br /> underground fuel pipeline was excavated, removed, and disposed in accordance with the permit <br /> application (Dames & Moore, 1991b) Site restoration included backfilling of the excavation with pea <br /> gravel and capping with asphalt Site restoration was conducted by Environmental Geotechnical <br /> Consultants of Stockton, under the supervision of Dames & Moore Documentation regarding the final <br /> disposal location of the piping is not available <br /> 3. A listing of quantities of excavated soil, purge water, soil cuttings, and barrels and when <br /> and where they were disposed of <br /> Approximately 3,100 tons of treated soil from the UST excavations and monitoring well installations was <br /> disposed at the BFI Landfill, located in Livermore, California Approximately 160 cubic yards of soil <br /> exevated during the piping demolition was disposed at Port Costa Materials, Inc , located in Port Costa, <br /> California A 55-gallon drum of piping ansate was disposed by Chico Drain Oil Service, in Chico <br /> California Soil generated from monitoring wells installed after 1990 were collected in drums and <br /> disposed, most recently at TPS Technologies in Richmond, California Approximately 4 cubic yards of <br /> soil was generated during well and soil boring drilling conducted since 1990 Purge water generated <br /> since 1998 (approzlmtely 50 gallons per sampling event) was disposed to the City of Stockton wastewater <br /> system,under permit number P 106984104 <br /> 4. Greatest and least depths to groundwater bellow ground surface. <br /> The depth to groundwater at the Site as measured in monitoring wells since August 1990, has varied from <br /> approximately 35 feet bgs in May 2000 to approximately 69 feet bgs in July 1991 Current water levels <br /> are approximately 38 feet bgs Seasonally, water levels vary approximately three feet, with the shallowest <br /> water levels typically measured in late spring, and the deepest water levels in early winter(Table 2) <br /> K\840191afp1afp—c1osure_rpt doc 07/31/01 3 24 PM <br />
