Walnut Oiwy Road,Thorttto , CA
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Ground Zero Ana(ysis, I nc. (Ground Zero), on behalf of Mr. Mike Manser, submits this addendum
t0 the approved workplan for interim reniediation of contaminated soil and groundwater at the
subject site,
A5 we discusscd during your site, visit on March 13, 2000,the vertical limit of contaminated soil at
the site has been uanfirmed during excavation to be approximately 13 feet. below Smund surface
(kgs). Excavation activities appear to have successfully removed significantly impacted soil from
the ground surface to a depth of 13 feet within our original estimated arc. of soil contamination,
Aowever, as we discussed, soil contamination app rs to extend some distance outside of our
original estimated limits on the eastern and southwestern boundaries of our c n-ent excavation. By
4iggitig a series of exploratory trenches, we have letermined that the contamiination in these
dimctions appear to be somewhat litnited. Groand Zero estimates that the (removal of
approximately 1,200 additional cubic yards of soil in these areas will effectively mmove the
majority of contaminated soil at the site (see figure attached). Ground Zero estimates that
alpproximately 900 cubic yards cif this total will be x ated trs contaminated soil. The soil will be
iegregated, stockpiled, and aerated as previously discussed in the February 15, 2000 Interim Soil
and Groundwater Rernediation Workplan_
In. addition, we anticipate that it will be ne4less2rry to resrrove approximately 20,000 gallons of
groundwater from the exaivattion in addition to the 40,000 gallons that was pumped previously.
The pumping of the additional 20,0043 gallons of groundwater will serve the joint purpose of
tiG2.aFSVSY3U]a7skCrR[7LGIEIZGIM,AN9iR1h9:inci 31Ncrirnar rt.+trie
1
