GES
• GENESIS ENGINEERING&REDEVELOPMENT
characterization and classification. Drums will be appropriately labeled, and within 60 days
following receipt of all waste analytical data, a request for disposal will be submitted to an
appropriate landfill or other disposal facility in accordance with the waste classification.
Within two weeks following receipt of written authorization of waste acceptance, all
investigation-derived waste will be transported to the appropriate off-site disposal facility by
a transporter meeting all certification and licensing requirements of the State of California.
2.5 Surveying
Upon completion of the reconnaissance borings, geographic locations will be recorded using
hand held Global Positioning System ("GPS") equipment. Additional landmarks near the
borings will also be surveyed.
3.0 ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLING
This section contains a discussion of the program planned for collecting samples for
chemical analysis—including regulatory requirements, sample collection procedures, and the
procedures to be followed to maintain sample integrity. Photographs will be taken to
document all sampling locations.
• 3.1 Soil Sampling
Soil samples will be collected from a minimum depth of 4 feet in each boring. The borehole
will be advanced to 4 feet bgs using a hand auger, and then a sample will be collected by
driving a sample head another 6 inches into the native soil. Samples for chemical analysis
will be collected in plastic sample sleeves. Soil descriptions will be made from the hand
auger returns above the drive sample. The soil samples will be collected by removing the
sampling sleeve from the sample head; sealing the ends of the sample sleeve with Teflon
sheets and plastic end caps; labeling the sample; and placing it on ice in a rigid shipping
container. Soil samples will be submitted to a state-certified analytical for analysis.
Table A-1 lists the Boring Designation and Sample Identification for the background
samples. All soil samples will be tested for the constituents listed in Table A-2. The
analytical method, method detection limit, and practical quantitation limit are indicated for
each analyte. A notation will be added to the chain-of-custody directing the laboratory to
report"trace" concentrations.
• William DePaoli Property 4 of 1 I
Sampling and Analysis Plan
February 2012
