SECTION 5:SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS '
The y
larger trees in Areas C and D may have just started to become naturally established ,
(with roots that reach the groundwater) (Appendix B)but the smallest trees may not have
tapped into groundwater. In addition to water, subsurface soil conditions and fertility are '
also important limiting factors in these two planting sub areas. The smaller trees may
benefit from continued supplemental irrigation during the summer months to maintain
continued growth and survival but due to the extremely disturbed ground conditions, rapid
tree growth is not expected to occur in these sub areas even with continued supplemental
irrigation.
Phytoremediation system checks will be performed in 2013 to document continued tree '
survivorship in Areas C and D. Limited site irrigation and maintenance actions will be
performed during the summer months to help maintain survivorship in these areas. A
memorandum will be prepared that summarizes these activities and it will be submitted to
the RWQCB by January 31,2014.
52
