3.0 OBJECTIVE
The objective of this assessment is to conduct an environmental site
investigation to evaluate current site conditions.
3.1 SCOPE OF WORK
In order to achieve the objective, the following scope of work will be
performed under the guidance of the site-specific Health and Safety Plan,
included as Appendix A of this workplan.
3.1.1 Pre-Fieldwork Activities
Prior to initiating field activities, necessary permits will be obtained from
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD). A
workplan, master file record information form (MFR), site mitigation fees,
and a well permit application will be submitted to EHD prior to
conducting drilling activities. Upon completion of the environmental
assessment, soil and groundwater results must be submitted to the EHD
for review. Exceedances of non-petroleum hydrocarbon standards will
need to be reported to the State of California Regional Water Quality
Control Board (RWQCB). The RWQCB will review the data and then
provide their recommendations for future actions. Additionally,
Underground Service Alert subscribing companies will be notified and a
utility locator will be employed to confirm locations of underground
utilities.
3.1.2 Soil Characterization
A subsurface investigation will be conducted in order to characterize the
current environmental conditions at the site. ERM will subcontract a
drilling company to complete the following activities.
Four soil borings will be drilled to determine current soil conditions and
to evaluate groundwater characteristics. The soil borings will be drilled to
approximately 15 feet bgs or the first encountered groundwater to
evaluate soil and groundwater conditions and to collect samples to assist
in evaluating soil characteristics. The borings will be advanced using a
direct-push method on a truck-mounted GeoProbe®unit. Additionally,
ERM 3 LESCO,INC/0024301A0-12/21/04
