On June 5 and 6, 1995 the remainder of the proposed monitoring and vapor wells were installed at the site. Monitoring well MW#3 was overdrilled and destroyed and monitoring well MW#3R was overdriiled and replaced. The monitoring wells were purged and sampled during this time as well. In accordance with the letter to you dated November 4, 1994, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) requested that a vapor extraction test must be / performed within 30 days from the date of the completion of the field work. Please schedule this test I/ and provide this office with at least 48 hours advance notice. The letter also requested a report of findings within 60 days from the date of the completion of the testing. PHS/EHD understands that the "zero" lines of the groundwater contaminant plume have not yet been determined without the benefit of the proposed off-site monitoring wells. However, the considerable volume and elevated levels of soil and groundwater contamination at the site warrant immediate abatement activities. Therefore, based on the substantial data generated from the site to date, you are hearby directed to propose a corrective action in the report of findings to abate the gross contamination at the site. You are also directed to initiate this corrective action within 60 days from the date of the submittal of the report. The additional required off-site work can be completed concurrently with the operation of a remedial system at the site. In addition, over 50 barrels of soils and groundwater were generated during this last phase of field work. Please dispose of this waste appropriately and submit disposal receipts to this office by July 3, 1995.
