T0607700132 <br /> The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Soil Vapor <br /> Risk and Health Risk Assessment Report (Report) dated June 27, 2011, which had been <br /> submitted to Geotracker. The Report details the installation and sampling of ten soil vapor <br /> probes on-site in June 2011. The plan to conduct the vapor intrusion evaluation was included in <br /> Thrifty Oil Company's (TOC) February 14, 2011 Letter of Intent/Request for Low Risk Closure <br /> that was approved by the EHD in correspondence dated May 3, 2011. <br /> Soil gas samples were collected and analyzed for aromatic volatile hydrocarbons (benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX), naphthalene, fuel oxygenates, and total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 826QB. Laboratory results indicated no <br /> volatile organic chemicals of concern were detected in the samples and no leak/trace compound <br /> was detected either; however, TPHg was detected in one sample at a concentration of 40,000 <br /> ug/m3 (micrograms per cubic meter). The Report included a request that the site be considered <br /> for low risk closure. In a Clean Up Fund (CUF) closure review dated May 5, 2011, the CUF <br /> recommended that the site be considered for closure. The EHD is of the opinion that closure is <br /> the appropriate action to be taken, but needs a brief written addendum to the Report that <br /> provides an evaluate technical argument that the TPHg detected in soil gas sample SV-4 does <br /> not pose a significant health risk or hazard. <br /> The EHD also reviewed TOC's August 30, 2011 request to "shut down the existing remediation <br /> system, pending the conclusion of closure evaluation." The EHD has reviewed the data and <br /> approves the request. Your closure request has been prioritized and will be completed once the <br /> issue of the TPHg in soil gas has been adequately addressed. Your closure request will then <br /> proceed in the order received with other sites in the closure process. No additional groundwater <br /> monitoring, sampling or remediation actions are required at this time. You will be notified if any <br /> additional information is needed to complete your closure review. <br />
