Locations of the tanks are' shown
relative to existing structures on Figure B-1, Plot
Plan
1. 2 Scope of Investigation
The scope of work for this investigation is in direct
response to parameters established by Thrifty Oil
r
Company. Four soil borings were-,,excavated around the
underground storage tank cluster. Each boring was
drilled to a depth of 20 feet and soil samples were
;9
collected every 5 feet. Laboratory analysis for total
' petroleum . hydrocarbons was performed on selected soil
samples where warranted by field ''observations. Appendix
E contains the original scope of work . for this investi-
gation as presented by Thrifty.
2.0 GEOLOGY AND GEOHYDROLOGY
2.1 Regional Geology
The site is located in the San Joaquin Valley of the
. Central Valley geomorphic province. Recently published
R
geologic maps (see references ) indicate that Holocene
age flood-basin deposits extend from ground surface to
a maxzum depth of approximately 100 feet .below the
site . Oligocene to Holocene age alluvial deposits lie below
the younger flood--basin deposits to a maximum depth of
approximately 3, 500 feet below ground surface .
Continental and marine rocks of pre-Tertiary to
Oligocene age underlie the alluvial deposits, and are
composed of shale, sandstone and conglomerate .
Crystalline bedrock underlies the sedimentary
formations .
t
