Hi Gary,
Attached is best thing I can use to describe what I look for at hazardous waste inspections. What I need now is a
description of each job title related to specific waste handling duties. Now to meet the requirements of this section, you
can put all of your employees under one job title if you want to. Your SPCC plan has it listed as "competent person." If
everyone at the plant is a "competent person" for a job title, and you add a description of other waste handling
requirements (such as with the dust, sweeping, labeling...)then that would work for me. It is important to note that if
you went this way,you would have to change the other forms to show compliance with the other training
documentation requirements before the next inspection when I will review it again.
Here are the four things I look for:
1. the job title for each position at the facility related to hazardous waste management, and the name of each
employee filling each job;
2. written job description for each position listed above;
3. written description of the type and amount of both introductory and continuing training that will be given to
each person filing positions listed above;
4. records that document that the training has been given to and completed by facility personnel
Thank You,
John Alaniz
REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 E Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-3147
Fax: (209)468-3433
Please note, my email address has changed to jalanizl@sjgov.org.
From: Gary Johnson [mailto:Gary.Johnson@schuff.com]
Sent:Thursday,July 18, 2019 9:49 AM
To:Alaniz,John <jalanizl@sigov.org>
Cc: Andres Jimenez<Andres.Jimenez@schuff.com>
Subject: RE: SJ EHD Response Follow-up
Good Morning John,
Attached is the RTC, but did want to discuss the job description. Each of our employees can and do pick up a broom
to sweep the area they are working in. We don't have just one guy doing all the sweeping. Also it was my understanding
from our phone conversation that what I sent you would suffice. Could you send me a sample of what you are looking
for so that I can get this item corrected per your standard.
Thanks
Gary
From:Alaniz,John <jalanizl@sigov.or >
Sent:Wednesday,July 17, 2019 4:08 PM
To: Gary Johnson <Gary.Johnson@schuff.com>
2
