Universal waste including fluorescent lamps, alkaline batteries, electronics, CRT, aerosol cans, etc., may be stored on site for a maximum of one year. Immediately dispose of the above Universal Waste - aerosol cans and submit a copy of the disposal receipt to EHD by 10/6/2012. A pamphlet for the Small Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility has been supplied to the generator during this inspection. NOTES (The following are not violations The facility generated 50 pounds of hazardous waste in 2011. Adam stated used oil was probably not disposed that year until they had accumulated enough in 2012. Reminded Adam that hazardous waste can be stored on site for a maximum of 180 days. (see item #701 above) Facility generates waste oil from equipment maintenance, and periodically waste chemicals from manufacturing process of corrugated paper products. Facility has a Wastewater Discharge permit from City of Stockton which requires daily pH log of the waste water. The waste water is generated from the starch room and paper corrugation and lamination machines, which may require pH adjustment before discharge as required by the city. I reviewed the pH log during this inspection, and observed testing of the pre -adjusted waste water sample to verify the waste water was not hazardous waste before pH adjustment. (Reading was 6.05) 404. One 55 -gallon drum of used oil was not closed. All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing. Violation was corrected on site. 703. An emergency coordinator was assigned, but the information was not posted. There must be at least one emergency coordinator on site or on call to coordinate emergency response measures, and the following information must be posted by a phone: the name and phone number of the emergency coordinator; location of fire extinguishers, spill control equipment, and if present, fire alarm; and the phone number of the fire department. Violation was corrected on site. Submit the following to EHD by: 10/6/2012 1) A completed copy of the (provided) Return to Compliance Certification 2) A written statement how each violation was corrected 3) Evidence (i.e. photos, disposal receipts, documents) in support of the corrections made. ALL EHD STAFF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH FAILING TO COMPLY BY THE ABOVE NOTED DATES WILL BE BILLED AT THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE.
