I-1.5 EVACUATION OF THE EWTF
Communication of emergency evacuation of the EWTF can be made by:
• Phone
• Radio
The Facility Manager, alternates, senior LLNL Fire Officer, or Site 300 Manager or designee can
make an evacuation announcement. A detailed description of evacuation planning is provided in
Section 11 of this Contingency Plan. In addition, the WCI Site 300 Self-help Plan provides
instructions for explosives waste Facility personnel.
If a hazard or potential hazard exists at the OB unit, personnel exit the fenced area around the
unit and follow the adjacent access road to the EWTF main access road. Personnel continue
southwest on the main access road to B845 (the assembly point) or leave the EWTF area,
depending on the hazard.
Plans of the Facility showing evacuation routes are included in Figure I=1-3.
I-l.b EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Response to an emergency at the EWTF is designed to be at a level appropriate to the incident.
Emergency action is defined based on the event and the potential hazard to onsite personnel and
offsite persons. Most emergencies that would potentially occur at the EWTF would be
designated "large emergencies" and would initiate the implementation of this Contingency Plan.
Established procedures for incident scenarios, including fire, explosion, and release response for
hazardous material and waste, are described in Section 7, "Emergency Control Procedures." In
addition, the Fire Department has developed a series of Facility Event Scenarios and
Consequences and run cards for emergency situations at LLNL Livermore Site and Site 300.
For a major incident requiring Fire Department assistance, call by radio or by dialing extension
911 from a Site 300 phone.
LLNL Site 300 Contingency Plan 1-1-9 January 2019
Rppendrx 1-1.
