N <br /> Spare the Air <br /> Employer Partner Fact Sheet <br /> Spare the Air is a voluntary program that encourages Valley residents to reduce air pollution <br /> Through the Employer Partner program, your employees can make an immediate impact on our <br /> air quality through simple actions like carpooling or using other commute alternative, postponing <br /> the use of gasoline-powered lawn equipment and reducing the use of aerosol products <br /> Spare the Air targets only a few days per summer winch are forecast to have unhealthful air <br /> pollution levels With everyone's participation in the Spare the Air program, we can reduce the <br /> number and seventy of these very smoggy days <br /> There are three things participating employers are asked to do <br /> • Educate employees on the program activities using informational materials provided by <br /> the Air District <br /> • Motivate them to participate on Spare the Air days via E-mail, posters and work site <br /> announcements The company will be notified by fax from the Air District the day before <br /> a Spare the Air day <br /> • Congratulate participants by using free incentive items provided by the Air District <br /> The program can be as simple or creative as the company wants. <br /> In addition to better air quality for all Valley residents, the program has benefits for your <br /> company and employees. <br />• Benefits to your company: <br /> • Promotion of positive corporate image on site, as well as recognition through Air District <br /> publications and programs <br /> • Possibility of reduced health risks to employees and their families by decreasing smog <br /> levels,resulting in reduced health care costs for the company <br /> • Employees who participate in carpools have lower absenteeism and tardiness rates <br /> • Emission reductions on dust a few days can help toward attaining the federal ozone <br /> standard.
