As shown, the <br /> area along the Mokelumne River and around Tracy Lakes is designated Resource Conservation and the <br /> remainder of the site is General Agriculture. Properties surrounding the project site share the Resource <br /> Conservation designation along the Mokelumne River and the General Agriculture and AG-40 <br /> designations. <br /> General Agriculture - The intent of the general agricultural designation in the land use element is to <br /> establish a land use zone for the protection of <br /> land..s,,,, (Zening Seetien° 4'f10) areas generally committed to agriculture with viable commercial <br /> agricultural enterprises that require large land areas to efficiently produce their crops (2010 Plan, <br /> pg. 111-6). This designation is considered in areas where the soils are capable of producing a <br /> variety of crops and/or support grazing; where parcels are large enough to support commercial <br /> agricultural activities, and a commitment to commercial agriculture exists in the form of <br /> Williamson Act contracts and/or capital investments (2010 Plan, pg. VI-10). Typical uses within <br /> the AG General Agriculture areas include crop production,feed and grain storage and sales, aerial crop <br /> spraying, and animal raising and sales. Permits are required within General Agriculture areas for <br /> resource recovery, dairy and canning operations, stockyards, and animal feedlots and sale yards (2010 <br /> Plan, pg.
