June 22 , 1993 <br /> Dear Kerry Sullivan and The Board of Supervisors : <br /> We, the California Miwok Nation, are firmly against the Buckeye <br /> Project. Our ancestors are buried at peace on this ranch. They <br /> should remain buried on the Buckeye Ranch for it is our sacred <br /> belief to keep them at peace, undisturbed . The ranch should also <br /> retain its natural state . Trees should not be cleared , nor should <br /> construction of any building, private or public facilities , take <br /> place on our people ' s ancient village . <br /> Our nation respects the belongings and beliefs of others , including <br /> their deceased families . We expect all others to respect our <br /> belongings , beliefs , and deceased ancestors , in return. Our Nation <br /> would never consider building our homes over your people ' s village <br /> or their cemetary ' s .
