Thesedlocations may <br /> have been marked on the map by John Beck when he visited the area <br /> in the early 1970s . <br /> The samples from were at a major archaeological deposit <br /> that is nn the Periphery of the "LAKE SITE" . the sample <br /> is an archaeological site and may be a <br /> remnant of . or one of the other previously recorded <br /> sites , and the sample from the middle of Section 9 is from an <br /> archaeological site on the southeastern side of Tracy Lake that <br /> was not recorded by the consulting archaeologists . These four <br /> samples represent the highest phosphates , are alkaline, contain <br /> carbonates and tend to have a grayish cast , when dry, to their <br /> dark brown color. It is quite clear that the sam les taken from <br /> Lot 21 and adjacent to it are from non archaeological deposits . <br /> Thc samples taken from <br /> represent an older archaeological site which nas nam its <br /> carbonates leached away and has returned .to a pH similar to the <br /> surrounding soils. The moderate level of phosphates suggests <br /> that some human activity has occurred in this location. The <br /> samples from the depressions are not conclusive.
