Site Description: This site .consists of a midden soil containing shell and bone fragments
as well as obsidian and chert flakes. Two large depressions and several smaller ones may
represent the remains of semi-subterranean structures.
10. Area 138 m (N-S) by 55 m (E-V); 5,961 m2
Method of Determination: Compass and taping, with boundaries determined based on
presence of shell. These boundaries were then checked using carbonate testing of soils.
11. Depth: unknown Method of Determination:
12. Features: Two large depressions were observed. Depression A measures 13.5 meters in
diameter and 90 cm deep. Depression B measures 7.5 meters in diameter and 50 cm deep.
Several smaller and less well defined pits are locatednext to the berm of the main
depression measuring about 3.0 to 3.5 meters in diameter and about 50 to 90 cm deep.
Ananian and Rice (1991) note five "house or structure" depressions in their site record.
We were unable to relocate the northeastern-most depression they depict on their sketch
map. These depressions may represent the remains of semi-subterranean structures.
13. Artifacts: 2 possible clay ball fragments (fragments are approximately 2.5 cm thick and
spherical and smooth on one.side).
