Site Description: This site consists of a midden soil containing shell and bone fragments <br /> as well as obsidian and cher: flakes. The site datum is a large leaning oak tree in the center <br /> of 3 large oaks. <br /> 10. Area 69 m (N-S) by 52 m (E-V); 2,818 mZ <br /> Method of Determination: Compass and pacing, with boundaries determined based on <br /> presence of shell. These boundaries were then checked using carbonate testing of soils. <br /> 11. Depth: unknown Method of Determination: <br /> 12. Features: None noted. <br /> 13. Artifacts: None were noted. Marie Moyer (personal communication)recalls visiting this <br /> mound in the 1960s, and observed no artifacts on the surface. She screened a shovel-full <br /> of soil, however, and recovered a shell bead. At that time, she believed the site to be <br /> pristine and did not wish to disturb it further. <br />
