Location: <br /> 8. Prehistoric M historic [ ] Protohistoric [ ] <br /> 9. Site Description: This site consists of a midden soil containing shell and bone fragments, <br /> and debitage. Several small depressions roughly circular are present. They may represent <br /> the remains of semi-subterranean structures. The site datum is a lone wooden corner post. <br /> 10. Area 144 m (N-S) by 87 m (E-V); 9,839 mZ <br /> Method of Determination: Compass and pacing, with boundaries determined based on <br /> presence of shell. These boundaries were then checked using carbonate testing of soils. <br /> 11. Depth: unknown Method of Determination: <br /> 12. Features: Several small depressions were noted, which may represent the remains of semi- <br /> subterranean structures. <br /> Depression A measured 2.8 meters in diameter and 90 cm deep; <br /> Depression B measured 3.1 meters in diameter and 110 cm deep; <br /> Depression C measured 3.1 meters in diameter and 100 cm deep. <br /> 13. Artifacts: No formal artifacts were observed. <br /> 14. Non-Artifactual Constituents and Faunal Remains: Sparse fragments of fresh water <br /> mussel shell can be observed on the surface. A shovel test through 1/8" screen revealed <br /> medium size burnt mammal bone, chert and obsidian flakes. <br />
