In his capacities as a nongame wildlife biologist and assistant area manager for the <br /> Nevada Department of Wildlife, Mr. Rawlings has also represented wildlife interests in <br /> various land use planning processes, been involved in Clean Water Act investigations, <br /> participated in the inventory, trapping, and transplanting of various species of wildlife, is <br /> familiar with refuge management, and is experienced in working with the public. Mr. <br /> Rawlings received a B.S. in wildlife management from Humboldt State University, Arcata, <br /> California, in 1978. <br /> Dana McGowan is an archeologist with extensive experience conducting cultural <br /> resource research and evaluation studies. Ms. McGowan meets the Secretary of the <br /> Interior's guidelines for professional qualifications to conduct archeological studies, and has <br /> over 8 years of experience in prehistoric and historic archeology. Her experience includes <br /> the management of complex survey and evaluation studies; supervising others engaged in <br /> technical work;and excavation and evaluation projects,including fieldwork,artifact analysis, <br /> document preparation, and coordination with the state historic preservation office and other <br /> agencies. <br /> In her previous employment with Caltrans, she was responsible for the direction of <br /> several large-scale archeological surveys in the Owens Valley and a Phase II excavation, <br /> including the direction of fieldwork, report preparation, and treatment recommendations. <br /> Earlier, Ms.McGowan worked for a large cultural research firm on two large Corps projects <br /> in northern California and a large hydroelectric project in the southern Sierra Nevada, <br /> where she gained extensive experience in oral and archival historical research and <br /> experience working with Native American groups. <br /> Ms. McGowan received both an M.A. (1990) and a B.A. (1984) in anthropology, with <br /> an emphasis in archeology, from California State University, Sacramento, California. <br /> PEAK & ASSOCIATES <br /> Ann S. Peak - Principal Investigator. The secretary-treasurer of the firm, Ms. Peak <br /> has overall charge of operations. Since founding the company in 1972, Ms. Peak has gained <br /> experience providing professional archeological services in both the public and private <br /> sectors. Her archeological experience includes most areas of California, the western Great <br /> Basin, and southeastern Oregon. She has developed particular expertise in the literature <br /> and resources of the Coast Ranges, the Sierra Nevada, and the San Joaquin and Sacramento <br /> Valleys, as well as the western Great Basin. <br /> Ms. Peak has managed all types of projects related to cultural resource efforts, <br /> including field surveys,test excavations,data recovery programs,intensive archival investiga- <br /> tions, and cultural resource management studies. For example, she has served as principal <br /> investigator for three large-scale archeological data recovery projects: North Fork Stanislaus <br /> River hydroelectric development project, CA-Mer-215, and Rancho Murieta. As co- <br /> principal investigator or field director, she has guided four cultural resource surveys of <br /> significant size: the Mid-Valley Canal project, the Merced County streams project, the <br /> VI-8 <br />
