G om THE RECLAMATION BOARD cn Subject : Buckeye Ranch (SCH No. 91012103) Staff for The Reclamation Board has reviewed the draft Environmental Impact Report for the subject project and has the following comments. The proposed project, a private, gated community of 26 single-family homes; a private 18-hole golf course; an eques- trian center; and a nature area, is located adjacent to the Mokelumne River and a portion is located in the Mokelumne River Designated Floodway. The Board has jurisdiction over the designated floodway as stated in the Board's response to the Notice of Preparation for this project (see enclosed letter dated February 6, 1991) . As explained in that response, a permit is required for all vegetation removal in the designated floodway. Therefore, the project proponent should apply for a permit for the four fair- ways already cleared in the heavily vegetated riparian forest A23 near the river. All proposed structures in the designated floodway, such as pumps, access roads, barns, and utility crossings will require a permit from the Board before start of construction. For the information of the project proponent, a copy of the Board's "General Information Regarding Applications for Permits" is enclosed.
