(2)
The biological surveys should be more complete, particularly if this is to
be a "nature preserve This would make it desirable to determine what
is present to see what is actually preserved. It does not appear that the
questions asked by Fish and Game in their letter of 2-27-91 have been ,
answered by the studies reported in this DEIR. There has been no full
C24 spring plant survey although there are vernal pools. The survey fbr
aquative vertebrates, invertebrates and oche biota are admitted to be
inadequate by the writers. Late tall surveys done in dry years are not
enough. How can low impact be claimed when the biological data is so
sparce that practically nothing is said about plant species? Was not much
information gained from a study made by Muick and paid for by Catwill?
Where is that information? Even the bird survey appears to be inadequate.
This should not be acceptable in light of the presence of the Swainsons
Hawk and other species of concern. I have photos of Sandhill Cranes on
the property. What is being done to check for other species after the
recent wet weather?
Sincerely, Mr. S.K.Stocking, Conservation Co:Chair
Delta-Sierra Group, Sierra Club
J )
IH-62
