SENT qY:Pl ONF-5106443701 : 4- 8-32 : 6:31 x111 : K I NKO'S UNIVERSITY- 6
Muick 4/8/92 Comments on Buckeye Ranch EIR
4.7-25 Destruction of native trees: This mitigation
measure would prohibit the cutting all native
trees and exceeds the county's own proposed tree
ordinance. The project has been carefully designed C131
to AVOID trees. When construction takes place
NEAR trees a set of protective measures have been
described to protect the tree and its extensive root
system. These measures are described in the
BRMP p. 52-57 and Appendix 2 p. 1-5.
In Zones 1-4, when trees are to be removed
because they pose a safety hazard, or construction
cannot be practically routed around existing trees, C132
the BRMP requires mitigation planting of 20
seedlings for every I tree removed. TSA pruning
standards must be followed for any tree trimming
and a licensed arborist must be employed. See
BRMP p. 54, 57 and Appendix 2: 1-5.
In addition to required mitigation, restoration of
the oak-buckeye savanna will take place to C133
increase the numbers of trees to densities existing-
40 years ago. See BRMP p. 82-85.
Oyer the majority of the property, Zone 6 - 675 +
acres, no trees will be cut, pruned nor will. dead
and downed wood be collected for firewood. Thus C134
"the natural cycle" identified as optimal by the
consultants in the Draft EIR will take place over
85% of the property. See BRMP p. 53-57.
III-114
