1
3.0 ASSESSMENT OF RISK AND BENEFICIAL USES
As required by item #15 of the PHS/EHD checklist, this section presents a
' rationale for why remaining site conditions will not adversely impact
water quality, health, or other beneficial uses
' Based on the information provided in this report, the presence of TPH and
related constituents does not pose a significant threat to human health or
the environment, for the following reasons
' • The release source causing soil contamination has been removed The
surface of the site is now entirely sealed with asphalt pavement and is
used as a parking lot All residual soil contamination was identified at
depth within the property boundary and beneath the asphalt cover
' • The lateral extent of soil contanunation has been adequately defined
within an approxi nately 15-foot radius of the former release location
The vertical extent of soil contamination is adequately defined between
approximately 10 and 35 feet bgs
• As shown by lustorical monitoring data, the zone of ground water
impact is limited to the immediate vicinity of the former UST and has
not migrated over the 2-year monitoring period Additionally, site
ground water is not a source of drinking water
There is no opportunity for human exposure to the residual gasoline in
the ground water, therefore, the residual gasoline does not present a
' risk to human health
A small quantity of residual gasoline remains in the immediate vicinity
' of the former UST There is no indication of this gasoline migrating
through either soil or ground water, therefore, the residual gasoline
does not present a risk to the environment
1
' 8RM 9 9343 50/LTPRR/11/06/02
