ANNE MACDONALD
PAGE 2
i
The data from the last quarterly report indicate that the water table bas risen above the screened
interval in monitoring wells MW#1, MW#2, and MW#3. There is some amount of drawdown being
achieved during purging, but not sufficient to show that water is entering the well from the water table
area, the area of concern. Therefore, PHS/EHD recommends that an attempt be made to achieve an
even greater degree of drawdown, if possible, for subsequent groundwater sampling events so that a
more representative groundwater sample can be obtained for analysis and review.
In addition, PHS/EHD recommends the analysis of lead in the next',!round of groundwater sampling.
However, the water to be analyzed for this constituent should be filtered in the field, using equipment
manufactured for this purpose, before being sent to the laboratory. j;This technique will separate out
most lead associated with the particulate matter from the sample to'be analyzed and will provide a
better indication of actual threat to groundwater quality.
Please submit the above noted items to PHS/EHD by July 31, 1,995. PHS/EHD appreciates your
aggressive approach to the site remediation and hopes the data will support a closure status for this
site.
