AM
Worsting To Restore Nature
Notification of Vapor Extraction Test October 27, 1992
Coca-Cola Enterpnses-West, Stockton, California 54006.01
tObteemes
"Ile ruin objectives of the test are: to collect operation data to evaluate the feasibility and
efficiency of vapor extraction as a soil remediation alternative for the petroleum
hydrocarbon impacted site soil; to determine the vapor flaw rates, petroleum hydrocarbon
' concentrations, system vacuums, etc in order to establish the design criteria for engineering
design of a soil vapor extraction system; and to select the apparent best alternative for off-
gas treatment.
Vapor Test Equipment
The one day test will be performed using a trailer-mounted internal combustion(IC) engine.
The major components of the IC engin are: (1) A Ford industrial engine (sic cylinder, 300
cubic inch displacement engine, model number CS6-6491-6007-ZB) mounted on a 3/4 ton
' trailer. Four propane fuel cylinders, with a total capacity of 40 gallons are also attached to
the trailer; (2) an instrument panel is incorporated into the engine housing, and a
microprocessor-based control system' automancady controls the flow rates of dilution air.
fue
process air. and supplemental l; (3) a condensate removal system for removing trapped
condensate in the vapor extracuon piping, and (4) a set of associated piping, control valves.
and insm=entauon for veld measurements.
DestructionEfficiene
coon eificiencv far total petroleum nvarocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by this IC
The destru -
engine ranges from about 95010 to 99%.
Site Safe r Plan
' A Site Safety Plan (RESNA, October 1992) has, been prepared for this site, and will be
available to you at the job site, or a copy can be forwarded to you upon request.
1
1
