Appendix B:Previous Environmental Activities
• Vernalis Pum Station: The former Vernalis Pum Station is located at the southeast
P p
corner of Highway 33 and Welty Road. The former pump station, part of the former
OVP system, was investigated by SAIC and others between 1995 and 2008. Five 1
groundwater monitoring wells associated with the site were properly destroyed by SAIC 1
in 2009.21 SAIC completed an HHSE of the subject property in 2010, in which results
indicated that the site does not pose a health risk to future residents.22
• CPS (formerly Western Farm Service): CPS is located at the northwest corner of the
intersection of Highway 33 and Welty Road. CPS has stored and distributed bulk liquid
and dry fertilizers on its facility since 1969. Records indicate this site contained a
10,000-gallon diesel UST, and 5,000-gallon and 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs. The
USTs were removed in 1987, and their approximate locations are shown on Figure 2 of
the main report. Wells were installed at the CPS facility to monitor concentrations of
agricultural chemicals in groundwater, and from 2005 to 2007 SAIC collected samples
from WFSMW-1 for analysis of the COPCs.
• Former Union Oil Service Station: A service station operated from 1972 to the mid
1980s at the northeast corner of the intersection of Highway 33 and Welty Road.
Historical records are not available for this site; therefore, the location and status of the I
service station USTs are unknown.
i
1
I
I
I
I
I
I
21 SAIC,2009.
