i <br /> i <br /> • 3.0 FIELD ACTIVITIES AND HAZARD ANALYSIS <br /> L This section describes the field activities, identifies physical and chemical hazards <br /> 4 associated with each task, and presents strategies/procedures to be used to control the identified <br /> I! hazards that may be encountered during the implementation of the Site Investigation Work Plan, <br /> Roberts Property (Former Vernalis Pumping Station), 35500 Welty Road, Vernalis, California <br /> 3.1 Field Activities <br /> The site activities to be conducted during this investigation include <br /> i <br /> �� • Soil borings: Collection and chemical analysis of soil samples from the <br /> soil borings <br /> • Monitoring Well Installation: Drilling, installing and development of <br /> four monitoring wells <br /> • • Groundwater Sampling: Collection and chemical analysis of <br /> groundwater samples from the monitoring wells <br /> 3.2 Hazard Analysis <br /> The field activities planned for this project pose potential health and safety <br /> hazards for field team members The following subsections describe the hazards associated with <br /> each field activity and provide work procedures to be followed throughout each task Detailed <br /> chemical, physical and biological hazards information is provided in Section 4 0 <br /> 3.2.1 Hazard Analysis—Drilling of Soil Borings and Monitoring Wells <br /> All drilling at the site will be conducted by a subcontractor Drilling of soil <br /> borings and monitoring wells will be done using a truck mounted drill rig equipped with hollow <br /> stem augers In areas of limited or difficult access, soil borings may be drilled with a portable <br /> adrilling rig A Radian representative will oversee the subcontractor and provide technical <br /> direction regarding location of sampling sites Hazards related to drilling operations will be <br /> addressed in the subcontractor's health and safety plan (HASP) Field personnel will also be <br /> 3-1 <br />
