As stated in the enclosed
memorandum, this report is approved.
During our meeting of 20 August 1991, we discussed the need for Brea Ag to begin a
groundwater assessment at the Stockton facility. As you may recall, shallow
groundwater samples collected in July 1991 contained elevated levels of nitrate and
1,2-DCP.
Please submit a groundwater assessment workplan by 15 April 1992. The workplan should -
include information showing how you determined the number, placement, and construction
of monitoring wells. It should also detail how the well design will handle the known
fluctuation of groundwater elevation and gradient, and give a proposed sampling and
analysis schedule.
No mention has been made of how you plan to dispose of the TPH-contaminated soil
stockpiled at the facility. Please submit a second workplan, also by 15 April 1992,
detailing how you plan to remediate or dispose of this material.
If you have any questions, I can be reached at (9161 361-5704.
WENDY WYELS
Ag Regulatory Unit
cc: Ms. Eleanor Ratliffe, San Joaquin County Environmental Health, Stockton
Mr. Mike Blankinship, Kleinfelder, Sacramento
