Oil Removal—API Separator. <br /> 2. Solids Removal — Settle in storage tank and API Separator <br /> 3. Neutralization—mix tanks, mixers, pH probes, chemical metering <br /> pumps. <br /> 4. General—wastewater storage tanks, pumps, piping. <br /> Closure Procedure <br /> Normal operation of the system results in empty tanks at the end of each <br /> processing day (i.e. wastes are not accumulated, they are processed daily and <br /> hence removed from the system). Thus closure can be achieved simply by <br /> cleaning the tanks, piping and pumps, and, since they are all useful process <br /> items, leaving the equipment in place. The tanks are all cross linked <br /> polyethylene, the piping is PVC and the pumps are plastic or metallic. None <br /> of the equipment will absorb any contaminants from the wastewater. Careful <br /> rinsing and cleaning will result in fully decontaminated equipment, suitable <br /> for use in a number of other processing applications. Therefore, proceed as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. Process all wastewater through the system to disposal if not already done. <br /> Time allowed— 1 man day= 8 man hours. <br /> 2. Empty the caustic and acid storage tanks to trailers and transfer to uses <br /> elsewhere. Triple rinse the tanks, neutralize the rinse water. Estimated time <br /> required— 2 man days = 16 man hours. <br /> 3. Rinse the API Separator with hot water and collect all floating oil in the <br /> tank provided. Estimated time required— 1/2 man day = 4 man hours. <br /> 4. Remove solids from the storage tank with a vacuum truck and dispose of <br /> solids — 1/2 man day = 4 hours. <br /> 4. Process all wastewater through the neutralizers, rinse the tanks and <br /> neutralize and haul the rinsate to disposal. Estimated time required— 3 man <br /> days = 24 man hours. <br />
