E
E
DOUBLE CONTAINED PIPING
INTERSTITIAL SPACE MONITOR: X LIQUID
SUMP MONITOR: X LIQUID SENSOR Veeder-Root TLS -350 Discriminating Series 794380-352
EQUIPMENT AT THIS FACILITY IS: Veeder-Root TLS -350 PLLD Series 8484
3
All double contained piping is continuously monitored electronically by a system that can sense a leak at
of 3 gallons or more per hour at 10 lbs. per square inch of line pressure within 1 hour at more than one
location with positive shut down. The line pressure monitor is capable of sensing a pressure loss in the
system and disables the flow of product through the lines. All product lines are sloped down towards
the tank, and if the pressure sensor is activated, any liquid in the annular space will flow backwards
toward the sump area. There is a sensor in the sump area that detects any liquid present there. The
system has both visible and audible alarms that are activated when there is liquid in the sump or detected
in the secondary containment. At least 6nnually, the system is capable of detecting a release from the
primary piping equivalent to .1 gph defined at 150% operating pressure.
RESPONSE PLAN
If the system goes into the alarm mode, the Operator or his designate will check the alarm panel to verify
that there is a leak condition and then silence the audible alarm. The Operator or his designee will
immediately contact Chevron dispatch and advise them of the situation so that they can contact the
appropriate personnel who will follow the instructions outlined in the "Leak Response Plan", which is part
of your Hazardous Material Management Plan. All follow up will be completed within the month the
problem occurred.
The monitoring system will be inspected daily. The Operator or an employee appointed by the Operator
will follow the same procedures as outlined for monitoring the double contained product tanks.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
The monitoring equipment shall be inspected and certified annually. Maintenance will be performed
annually or as needed. All work performed to the monitoring system will be in accordance to the
manufacturers recommendations.
TRAINING
Tank operators are trained on the proper operations of the monitoring equipment per the manufacturer's
instructions.
Chevron Maintenance Dispatch (24 Hour) 1-800-423-3528
