STOCKTON <br />I n accordance with, California Health. & Safety Code 25291, every und.ergt:o►tnd storage tank shall be designed and <br />construcled to provide primary and secondary levels of containment of hazardous stibstances stored in it. In a.dditiou, <br />California Code of Regulations 2636(a) states 'tha.t, piping connected to tanks, which were installed after July 1, 1 987, 911311 <br />have secondary containnlen.t that complies with. the requirements of section 2631 for new underground storage 'ta.nks. <br />By I&n.uary 1, 2003, underground storage tank owners and operators were required to have their secondary contai.nmen( <br />systems tested [California Cole of Regulations (CCR) Section 2637 (4)1- <br />All secondary conta.in.ment failures must be cuff ected and. yetested innot more than 120 days from the original test date. A <br />statement explaining the scope Of work :for the secondary containment repair must be subtintted to this department prior to <br />beginning any r. pais. A permit from this office is required, prlo.r to commencing work/breaking concrete. Consult with .E10 <br />for advice on perm.it requ.irernents. <br />If the system cannot pass the secondary containment test within 120 days of the original test date, then an Application to <br />remove the underground storage tank component that fa.ilcd should be submitted to this office i.mtn0we.ly. <br />In addition, this office must be notified 48 hours .in acivance of perfornl:ing the offic.ia). retest of the secondary containment <br />syste.m..If notification is not made to this office prior to testing the results wilt not: be accepted.
