SECTION 1 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> PURP06E AND POLICY <br /> The purpose of this safety plan is to- establish personnel <br /> protection standards and mandatory safety practices and procedures <br /> for all work conducted for the underground storage tank (UST) <br /> removal project at 2705 Country Club Blvd. , Stockton, California. <br /> The plan assigns responsibility, establishes standard operating <br /> procedures, and provides for contingencies that may arise while <br /> operations are being conducted at UST sites . <br /> The provisions of the plan are mandatory for all field, on site <br /> personnel. All AES personnel will abide by this plan. Any <br /> supplemental plans used by subcontractors shall at least conform to <br /> this plan. All personnel who engage in project activities must be <br /> familiar with this plan and comply with its requirements . <br /> SITED DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY <br /> The site currently is an Exxon service station located at 2705 <br /> Country Club Blvd. , Stockton, California. There are four, single <br /> wall steel, USTs at the subject property: one 10, 000 gallon UST, <br /> one 8, 000 gallon UST and one 6,000 gallon UST containing unleaded <br /> gasoline, and one 550 gallon UST containing waste oil . The tanks <br /> were reportedly installed in 1980 years . old. AES has been <br /> contracted to remove a s . <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The field tasks to be performed include: excavating the USTs, <br /> inerting any residual volitiles within the USTs, removing the USTs <br /> from the excavation, loading the USTs onto truck trailer for <br /> shipping to a certified disposal site, collecting appropriate soil <br /> samples, backfilling the excavation, and restoring the site. <br /> PROJECT TEAM ORGANIZATION <br /> The AES Project Manager and Technical Coordinator will be <br /> responsible for directing all field activities including, <br /> controlling traffic, providing for public safety, locating <br /> underground utilities, excavating and removing USTs, backfilling <br /> and resurfacing of the site, and ensuring that all activities are <br /> conducted according to federal, state and local regulations . <br /> 1-1 <br />
