Inhalation of dusts and fibers may
cause temporary irritation of the mouth, nose, and throat. Skin contact with dust and fibers may produce itching
and temporary irritation. Eye contact with dust and fibers may produce temporary mechanical irritation.
Chronic(Long-Term)Health Effects: The long-term health effects of exposure are not known.
Carcinogenicity: The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in June, 1987, categorized fiber glass
continuous filament as not classifiable with respect to human carcinogenicity(Group 3). The evidence from human
as well as animal studies was evaluated by IARC as insufficient to classify fiber glass continuous filament as a
possible, probable, or confirmed cancer causing material.
The American Conference of Governmental industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) A4 classification, not classifiable as a
human carcinogen, for respirable continuous filament glass fibers Is based on inadequate data in terms of its
carcinogenicity in humans and/or animals.
Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: Skin contact with this product may yield redness and an itchy, sometimes
bumpy, rash. Inhalation of fiberglass particles may cause sore throat, mouth, and nose.
Medical Conditions General/Aggravated by Exposure: Existing skin or respiratory disorders may be aggravated
upon exposure.
Emergency and First Aid Procedures:
inhalation: First aid is normally not required. If symptoms develop, move individual to fresh air. If
symptoms persist, seek medical attention_
Skin Contact. Gently wash all affected skin areas thoroughly with water soap and water. Do not rub or
scratch affected areas as this will drive fibers deeper into the skin. Seek medical attention if
symptoms or Irritation persists.
Eye Contact Flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes. if irritation persists or burning sensation is
evident, seek immediate medical attention.
ingestion First aid is normally not required. If symptoms develop, move individual to fresh air.
