0
SITE HEALTH & SAFETY PLAN
A. INTRODUCTION
It is important that personal protective equipment and
safety requirements be appropriate to protect against
the potential hazards at the site. Protective equipment
will be selected based on the contaminant type(s),
concentration(s), and routes of entry. In situations
where the type of materials and possibilities of contact
are unknown or the hazards are not clearly identifiable,
a more subjective determination must be made of the
personal protective equipment.
Field personnel and visitors are required to wear the
following clothing and equipment, as a minimum, while on
this Project Site:
* Hard Hat
* Boots
B. LEVELS OF PROTECTION - GENERAL
Level A: Should be worn when the highest level of
respiratory, skin, and eye protection is needed.
Level B: Should be selected when the highest level of
respiratory protection is needed, but a lesser level of
skin protection is required.
Level C: Should be selected when the types of airborne
substances are known, the concentration is measured, and
the criteria for using air -purifying respirators are
met.
Level D: Should not be worn on any site with
respiratory or skin hazards. It is primarily a work
uniform providing minimal protection.
8
