When assembling the concen-
tric reducer, be careful not to
over -insert the larger pipe into
the reducer. Over -insertion could
interfere with the connection. Start
tightening on the larger end of
the reducer to prevent the possi-
bility of over -inserting the larger
pipe.
The length of the containment
pipe is determined from these
formulas and the constants "X" in
Table II. Refer to Figure 2.
F= (E - X) G= ( F) -1t1
2 2
PRODUCT
PIPE SIZE
(in.)
X
2
4
3
4,/2
4
41/2
The following secondary con-
tainment sleeve and adapter (Fig-
ure 3) and pipe penetration seals
(Figures 10 through 21) may be
used with RED THREAD II sec-
ondary containment telescoping
pipe systems.
Secondary Containment Sleeve
Resistoflex® R30112-L30Aoroil
company approved equal sleeve
(Figure 3.1) may be ordered from
Smith Fiberglass Products. When
ordering, specify Smith Fiberglass
Products part number 0599-601-0.
Secondary containment sleeves
are connected to the 3" pipe on
one end (figure 3.5). The oppo-
1 J 81111.1
F -i
ham-- G --
(LENGTH OF PRODUCT PIPE)
Example: For 2" product piping;
If E = 20'4" (244")
And X = 4" [from Table II]
Then F = (244" - 4") + 2 = 120" - 101
And G=(120"+2)-1"=59"=4°11
Cut Pieces: F = center section = 10' of 4" pipe
G = two end sections = 4'1 1" of 3" pipe
NOTE: Two 4" x 3" concentric reducers will be required to join the
telescoping pipe sections (Refer to Table 1).
site end is connected directly to
the shear valve or an adapter
(Figures 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4). For
shear valves with a 2" male NPT
threaded body, use a 8115 (Fig-
ure 3.2) or equal adapter. For
11/2" shear valves with a 11/2" fe-
male NPT thread, there are two
methods for connecting (Figures
3.3 and 3.4). Consult with oil
company engineers for preferred
method. The following instruc-
tions are for containing 11/2" stain-
less steel flex connector and con-
necting to 3" secondary contain-
ment pipe. When ordering the
8115 adapter, specify Smith
Fiberglass Products part number
0599-003-0.
Step 1
Cut off the 2" reduction of the
containment sleeve as shown in
Figure 3.
Step 2
The sleeve must be "in place"
but not attached to the ends until
the primary system has been
tested.
Note: for 100% inspection of
the flex connector, it must be
possible to move the sleeve down
(over) the primary fiberglass line.
Step 3
The R115 adapter is required
C
