S E C O R
ATTACHMENT A
FIELD AND LABORATORY PROCEDURES
Soil Sampling Beneath Product Dispensers
Soil samples were collected by hand augering into native soil and advancing 2 -inch -diameter brass
sample liners into the removed soil. Between samples, field equipment was washed in an Alconox wash,
rinsed with tap water, and then rinsed with a de -ionized or distilled water rinse. Soil samples for chemical
analysis were retained in the brass liners, labeled, and capped with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps.
The samples were then sealed in zip -lock bags, placed on ice, and transported to the laboratory
accompanied by the appropriate chain -of -custody documentation.
Laboratory Analysis of Soil Samples
Soil samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as diesel (TPHd) by EPA Method
8015m total petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as gasoline (TPHg); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,
xylenes (BTEX compounds); and fuel oxygenates (methyl tert butyl ether [MtBE], ethyl tert butyl ether
[EtBE], tert butyl alcohol [TBA], tert amyl methyl ether [TAME], di -isopropyl ether [DIPE], 1,2-
dichloroeathane [1,2 -DCA], ethylene dibromide [EDB], and ethanol) by EPA Method 82608.
