Hasselmann
President
Hasstech, Inc.
6985 Flanders Drive
San Diego, CA 92121
Dear Mr. Hasselmann:
619 4S7 8116 19 8-25 23:06 #099 P.04/09
January 11, 1994
PETE WILSON, ow"rnos
AnDroval of Hazlett H-PVB--1 Valves on Hasstech VCP -212A System.
#94-1
You requested California Air Resources Board (GARB) approval to use the
Hazlett Engineering Company's "Gold Label" H-PVB-1 Pressure/Vacuum (p/v)
valves on the Hasstech VCP -2/2A Vapor Recovery System. The Hasstech VCP -
2/2A system is currently approved for use only with the Varec 2010-811-2 and
Hazlett "Blue Label" p/v valves. The "Gold Label" Hazlett H-PVB-1 p/v valve
is.already certified for use with Phase II vapor recovery systems (Approval
Letter #92-20)
The Hazlett H-PVB-1 is a two way ventilation valve designed to relieve
both the unwanted positive and negative pressures that may occur in fuel
Stora a tanks. The H-PVB-1 utilizes two check valves (ball and gravity
types with the operating pressures and flow capacities for both functions
determined simply by the weight of the ball and area of seat contact. The
Hazlett "Gold Label H-PVB-1 p/v valve has a pressure setting of 2.95 inches
water column and the vacuum setting of -6.5 inches water column.
I find that the use of the "Gold Label" H-PVB-1 valves will not
adversely affect the vapor recovery performance of the Hasstech VCP -2/2A
system. Therefore, the Hazlett "Gold Label" H-PVB-1 Pressure/Vacuum Valves
(Approval Letter #92-20) are certified for use with the Hasstech VCP -2/2A
Vapor Recovery. System (Executive Order #G=70 -7 -AD). * If you have any
questi ons, pl ease earl- Basharat Iqbal - at (916) 324=7343 'or Ladra- McKi nney at
(916) 327-1525.
Sincerely,
James J.
