LI,
Ci
C
Mr. Michael Walton October 16, 2003
Walton Engineering, Inc.
metals were detected in the soil sample collected from beneath the former underground storage tank,
while only slightly elevated concentrations of the fuel oxygenates MtBE and tBA were detected at
one location beneath the former product line trench at the site. According to these data, soil beneath
the former fuel dispensers and underground product lines had not been impacted with gasoline -range
fuel hydrocarbons or any of the volatile organic BTEX compounds.
Because the soil contamination detected at the site appeared to be minor, it was our contention that
the site required no further action regarding this underground storage tank and fuel dispenser removal
work. If further action concerning this minor soil contamination is required by SJCEHD, then
Grayland recommends that the spatial extent of subsurface soil contamination at the site be
investigated and that groundwater beneath the site be evaluated for potential fuel hydrocarbon
contamination by installing one or more soil borings/monitor wells and collecting subsurface soil and
groundwater samples for chemical analysis. Grayland further recommends that any field procedures
required to comply with regulatory directives be presented to SJCEHD in a Site Contamination Work
Plan, prior to initiating the subsurface environmental investigation at the site.
If you have any questions regarding the material presented in this Underground Storage Tank and
Fuel Dispenser Removal Report, please do not hesitate to contact our office. Thank you for the
opportunity to provide our environmental consulting services to Walton Engineering.
Sincerely, Cc
Grayland Environmental
.5597
QS
Jeffrey A.
