Center Street Manteca, California 95336 The following is in response to your request for an explanatior-4 of the tank test failure dated March 13, 1989. 11 The test was made with the Petro-Tite testing system which includes circulating the product inside the tank while under pressure to stabilize the product temperature. During this procedure, the tank will expand due to the process involved. At the time the test was made it was unknown that the tank was a double walled tank (the annular space access points were covered). Petro -rite stated that their system will not work on double walled tanks due to the continuous expansion on the tank ends. After uncovering the tank, it was found to be a double walled tank® At that time, GRI contacted Precision Industries in Stockton, California to re -test the tank with the Horner System.
