Spill response plan <br /> Minor release <br /> Release is less than 5 gallons and station personnel can contain the release immediately (and the <br /> release does not go off site)DO THE FOLLOWING: <br /> 1. Turn off the source of the spill (turn off dispensers power, use emergency <br /> shutoff switch outside or inside the building). <br /> 2. Contain with absorbent material or booms(in spill kit)making sure that the <br /> release does not leave the site or enter any drains. <br /> 3. Clean up gas or diesel release with absorbent material. <br /> 4. Place used absorbent material into an approved container for such <br /> materials(DOT drums properly labeled). <br /> 5. For proper disposal of used absorbent material the dealer or designated <br /> employee will contact a licensed waste hauler to dispose of the material in <br /> accordance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. <br /> b. Record spill in the station log book- <br /> Major release <br /> Release is greater than 5 gallons and may leave the site, enter any waterway or there is an injury <br /> to a person,DO THE FOLLOWING: <br /> 1. Turn off the source of the spill (turn off dispensers power, use emergency <br /> shut off switch outside or inside the building). <br /> 2. Evacuate customer,asking them to leave by foot. <br /> 3. Call the fire department: 911 <br /> 4. All employees evacuate the premises. <br /> 5. Employees must meet at a designated emergency area. <br /> 6. Dealer, manager and employee should remain in the vicinity to provide <br /> information to the fire department. <br /> 7. Attempt to contain the spill with absorbent material, attempting to prevent <br /> the release from leaving the site or entering any drains. <br /> S. Record spill in the station log book. <br /> 9. Report spill to the agency within 24 hours or earlier. <br />
