t a <br /> TANK CLOSURE REPORT <br /> UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS) REMOVAL <br /> QUIK STOP MARKET NO. 121 <br /> MANTECA, CALIFORNIA <br /> FOR <br /> QUIK STOP MARKETS , INC. <br /> Introduction <br /> Compliance & Closure, Inc. (CCI) is pleased to present this Tank <br /> Closure Report for the Underground Storage Tank(s) Removal at Quik <br /> Stop No. 121, located at 1196 West Louise Avenue in the City of <br /> Manteca, San Joaquin County, California (Figure 1) . This report <br /> has been prepared on behalf of Quik Stop Markets, Inc. (Quik Stop) <br /> for submittal to the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health <br /> Services, Environmental Health Division (the County) . The report <br /> presents the procedures and results of the removal of the two <br /> 10, 000-gallon and one 8, 000-gallon underground fuel tanks at the <br /> subject site. <br /> Pre-Field Activity <br /> Wilkey' s Engineering, Inc. (Wilkey' s) of Yuba City, California was <br /> subcontracted by Quik Stop to perform the tank excavations and the <br /> re-installation of new fuel tanks, with CCI acting on behalf of <br /> Quik Stop to document the field activities, collect soil and grab <br /> water samples, coordinate activities with the contractor and the <br /> County and prepare a final report for closure of the fuel tanks at <br /> the site. Wilkey' s submitted an application to close the <br /> underground fuel tanks to the Manteca Fire Department. The permit <br /> (98-2) was granted by the Fire Department on March 26, 1998 . The <br /> approved closure permit is attached in Appendix A. <br /> Field Procedures And Tank Removal <br /> Preparation for removal of the tanks began on March 23, 1998, with <br /> Wilkey' s purging the fuel lines with nitrogen and removing the <br /> three fuel pumps, pulling the turbine pumps from each tank, and <br />
