P' T
0 0
Installation Instructions for Telescoping Pipe System
v 1
__fIBERCLASS RED
R rD @ '
CONTAINMENT TELESCOPING
3. 1.1 Telescoping System
Smith Fiberglass Products offers RED
THREAD IIA secondary containment
piping system for use with Smith Fi-
berglass Products' primary piping sys-
tems. The telescoping pipe, available
in 15 and 30 -ft lengths, aIlows com-
plete (100%) inspection of the pri-
mary product piping.
When designing or installing a sec-
ondary containment system using the
recommended Smith Fiberglass Prod-
ucts parts contained in this manual,
consult the owner or oil company
engineer for approval.
3.1.2 Assembly
Information in this Section must be
used in conjunction with Parts One
and Two, installation instructions for
primary and secondary containment
piping.
3.1.3 Description
The product pipe is contained by
three pieces of containment pipe. The
three sections of containment pipe
consist of two pieces of pipe which
are one size larger than the product
pipe and one piece of pipe which is
two sizes larger than the product
pipe. Use of this "nested pipe" allows
"telescoping" one pipe section into
the adjoining section. Therefore,the
entire product pipe is exposed for
inspection.
3.1.4 Installation
To complete the system, it is neces-
sary to install two concentric reduc-
ers that connect the two different sizes
of containment pipe. Installation pro-
cedures such as surface preparation,
adhesive application, and so on, are
shown in Part Two.
B C B
D A
D
- Figure 3.1.1
SIZING FOR TELESCOPING PIPE SYSTEMS
TABLE 3.1.1
PRODUCT
SECONDARY
SECONDARY
TELESCOPING
PIPE SIZE
PIPE SIZE
PIPE SIZE
REDUCER SIZE
A
B
C
D
(in.) {trim)
(in.)
